About the Story
Audrey Hepburn had aspirations to become an actress when she emigrated from Europe to the U.S.A. Her childhood had been difficult because her family had to hide from the Nazis both in Belgium, her birthplace, and in Holland. When she moved to America, she got a big break when she starred in a Hollywood movie. Her career took off after that. But Audrey was more than a movie star. In 1988 she became a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, an organization that serves children all over the world. She inspired other actors and people around the world to contribute to this organization and she was eventually awarded the prestigious Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992.
