Summary:
We are fortunate that there are so many people who help out in our communities. Every other page of this book describes in poetic format the jobs community members do. Readers guess which hands belong to which workers and turn the page to find the answers. The world is filled with people taking care of people! Vivid illustrations and the guessing games make this an attractive book for children. It concludes with a great message - “What could your hands do?” 

Lesson Objectives: 

1. Students will demonstrate more awareness of and gratitude for helpers in their communities. This new awareness could be reinforced by some teacher-led gratitude projects - children can express gratitude by giving cards, treats, and saying thank you to helpers at school and elsewhere in the community. 
2. Students can discuss ways they can be helpers by lifting up others with a smile, showing kindness, and lending a hand when someone needs help.
