Guiding Questions for Parents.

Definition: Someone who is grateful is thankful for people, nature, and things. Stewardship means taking good care of what we’ve been given. In short: Thankful for every blessing, big or small. Summary: Piggie tells his friend Elephant that he’s going to thank everyone he can think of, and Elephant has a hard time believing Piggie will be able to do that. With Elephant’s help, Piggie finally succeeds! Lesson Objectives:

Students are stimulated to express gratitude to all the people who are important to them.

Guiding questions:

Why do you think Piggie decided to thank everyone important to him?
What does Elephant say when Piggie tells him his plan?
When Piggie tells Elephant that the next thanks “will be a big one”, did you think he was going to finally thank Elephant?
After Piggie thanks the flies, why does Gerald the Elephant get so mad?
Were you surprised when Piggie forgot to thank his best friend?
What did Gerald say when Piggie finally remembered to thank him?
Ask someone to help you make a list of all the people you want to thank and include why you want to thank them.
After you make the list, brainstorm ways that you could thank each person on your list.
Do you think authors are thankful to readers for choosing to read their book? Why or why not?
Say thank you to someone today, and tell them why you want to thank them.
