Guiding Questions for Parents.

Definition of Cooperation for 4 - 7 year olds: Cooperation happens when two or more people help each other to make something good happen. It can also apply to animals or parts of a whole that need each other and work together.  An example of this is the human body – all the parts work together to make you healthy. In a nutshell: Together we can do more.  Summary: On each page of this book, there is an illustration and one sentence of a story told in sequence starting with an acorn and ending with an acorn. Readers learn how everything in nature is interconnected, and because of this interconnection, the natural world thrives.    Lesson Objectives:
  1. Students learn how the natural world is interconnected and thrives because of the relationships among living things. They are able to see that, like nature, we humans benefit from our interdependence and cooperation.
  Guiding Questions:
  1. What happens to the acorn at the beginning of the story?
  2. What does the oak tree do for the bird?
  3. What does the flower change into?

  5. How do the acorns turn into a forest?
  6. Are humans part of nature?
  7. What do humans and nature do for each other?
  8. Do both animals and humans have families? What do they do for each other?
  9. Does it surprise you that a tiny acorn can turn into a tall tree with lots of acorns? What makes that happen? Is it magic?
