About the Story
Diggory skips doing his chores and tells a fib in order to get a milkshake. He thinks it doesn’t matter because “mom will never know.” At the library Diggory takes a book without checking it out and he breaks a promise about helping his brother practice soccer skills. Diggory continues to make mistakes - when he fails to study for an exam he copies his buddy’s paper and gets a perfect score. But cheating doesn’t feel good and Diggory starts to feel guilty. Things get better when his brother Drew teaches him a new word - “integrity” and explains what it means. “Integrity is when you always do the right thing. You do it from your heart even when no one is watching.” This prompts Diggory to rethink his actions, and he decides to “be a better me and see if I can get some of that integrity!”
