About the Story
This is the true story about the world’s most famous fictional bear, Winnie the Pooh, who was the creation of author A.A. Milne. The facts? It all starts with a Canadian veterinarian soldier named Harry who adopts a homeless female bear cub. In Canada, Harry is assigned to a military post where he treats wounded horses. Harry arranges for Winnie the bear to become a mascot to the troops and when WWI breaks out in Europe, Winnie travels with Harry to a post in England. Eventually Winnie is gifted to the London zoo when Harry has to go to France. At the zoo, she gets special visits from a boy named Christopher Robin Milne whose father, inspired by the friendship between his son and the bear, writes the famous series about Winnie the Pooh. Because Harry took responsibility for a homeless cub, a boy found a friend in a bear, and an author created an award winning children’s book series!
