Summary:
Tavo is a boy who loves basketball. He is skilled in the sport but needs new sneakers because his shoes are falling apart. But there are more important problems to solve. His village is in a place with an arid climate where it’s difficult to grow crops. Tavo’s father proposes a solution to irrigate their farms, but it’s turned down by the villagers. Tavo’s father decides to go ahead with his plan in spite of no support from his neighbors. The people who lived there years ago had built irrigation ditches that carried water from the hills to the village. Gustavo, Tavo’s dad, starts digging up these ditches with his son, and after a lot of hard work, they make an incredible discovery. They uncover the old spring that had provided water in the past. The pair digs channels to a house near the spring where an old woman lives and to Gustavo’s farm. Father and son’s efforts help the village, and in return for the favor, Tavo gets a special gift from Senora Rosa.
