Being Brave/ Courage Songs for Kids /Perky is AOK
Activity: Students watch the video, learn the song, and discuss the message: “I am brave and I am strong and I did it!”
Materials needed: the video
Directions: Introduce the video, explain that it’s about being brave and strong when you’re trying to do something new. Guide students to recognize how the children in the video helped each other and remind the class to find ways to do the same. Notice when that happens and congratulate students who support their peers.
Wrap it up: Conclude: “The children in the video helped each other, didn’t they? Rosy was scared of the slide but when Gizmo offered to help her, she was able to face her fears and try. She wasn’t afraid anymore after that! Let’s remember to help each other when it’s needed, just like in the video. Rosy and Gizmo were really happy they could learn to be brave together, weren’t they? That’s the best way to not feel afraid anymore. Find a good friend who will help you!”
